Please note this event is hosted in English.
The International Friends are delighted to invite you to a special tour, curator’s talk and festive celebration at the historic Museum Bredius!
Located directly opposite the Mauritshuis on the Hofvijver, Museum Bredius contains the outstanding personal collection of Dr Abraham Bredius (1855-1946), displayed in a beautiful eighteenth-century building. Among the 200 paintings and drawing are works by Rembrandt, Jan Steen, Aert van der Neer and Meindert Hobbema.
On arrival, attendees will be divided into two smaller groups, with each group enjoying a tour of the house and also a talk by the curator, Drs. Willem Jan Hoogsteder. Following the talk and tour, attendees will be served drinks and nibbles to celebrate the festive season in the downstairs drawing rooms, and have the opportunity to talk with other International Friends.
We anticipate this tour will be very popular, so places will be allocated on a strictly first-come-first-served basis, with first places being allocated to International Friends. If available, places will then be offered to the guests of Friends. Due to the size of rooms inside Museum Bredius, number of attendees is restricted.
Please note that there are many stairs in Museum Bredius, including stairs from the street to the entrance, so unfortunately this tour is unsuitable for those with mobility issues. We are very sorry if this causes any inconvenience.
To reserve places for the special excursion to Museum Bredius, please send an email to internationalfriends@mauritshuis.nl by Friday 8 December with the names of the people for whom you wish to reserve places. Confirmation details will be sent to you along with payment information.
