The International Friends are delighted to invite you and your guests to join us for our annual midwinter Golden Evening in the Nassauzaal, a special event with live music and a fascinating lecture, preceded by drinks and nibbles in the Brasserie. The Golden Evening, our first event for 2025, will take place on Friday 17 January, beginning at 18:00.
Two talented Royal Conservatoire students, Ekaterina Uvarova (lute and classical guitar) and Jasperina Verheij (mezzo soprano and recorder), will perform baroque pieces, including compositions by Constantijn Huygens, as a fitting introduction to our seventeenth-century theme for the evening.
Historian and researcher, Dr Erik Odegard, who is currently researching the House of Oranje-Nassau’s role in the colonial history of the Netherlands, will introduce us to the intrigues, geopolitics and colonial enterprises that shaped The Hague in the mid-seventeenth century.
